Using the Concord MCP Server

The Concord MCP (Model Context Protocol) server is a powerful integration that connects your Concord account with Claude and ChatGPT. This integration allows you to search, analyze, and work with your contract documents directly from your AI assistant, streamlining your workflow and making it easier to find the information you need.

This is the first version of the Concord MCP server. Over the coming months, we'll be rolling out significant improvements and new capabilities, with the goal of allowing you to control nearly all functionalities of your Concord account directly within Claude or ChatGPT.

Prerequisites and Setup

Before you can use the Concord MCP server, you'll need:

• An AI-enabled Concord plan with Horizon access • Contact your Customer Success Manager (CSM) to enable this functionality on your account

Once your account has Horizon access enabled, an admin from both your Concord account and your Claude or ChatGPT account will need to complete the initial connection setup. After this admin setup is complete, any user in your organization can establish their own connection.

Setup varies slightly between Claude and ChatGPT. Please refer to the appropriate setup guide for your platform:

• [Admin Setup Guide for Claude - LINK TO BE ADDED] • [User Setup Guide for Claude - LINK TO BE ADDED] • [Admin Setup Guide for ChatGPT - LINK TO BE ADDED] • [User Setup Guide for ChatGPT - LINK TO BE ADDED]

How to Use the Concord MCP Server

Once your connection is established, you can start working with your Concord documents by activating the connector in your AI assistant.

To access your Concord documents:

  1. Click the plus (+) icon in your Claude or ChatGPT interface
  2. Select the Concord connector from the list of available tools

(Suggest screenshot of the plus icon and connector selection menu showing Concord among other MCP tools like HubSpot, Notion, JIRA)

The Concord connector works just like any other MCP tool you may be using, such as HubSpot, Notion, or JIRA.

What You Can Do: Current Capabilities

The Concord MCP server currently provides three primary tools:

  1. Search for Documents

Search across your Concord repository to find specific documents or lists of documents.

The search tool uses both traditional keyword matching and AI-powered search to deliver relevant results. The more specific and detailed your search query, the better your results will be.

Search results include: • Document titles • Relevant content from within the documents

Example queries: • "Find all vendor agreements from 2024" • "Show me contracts that mention renewal terms" • "Search for NDAs with Microsoft"

(Suggest screenshot of a sample search query and its results)

  1. Search Within Documents

Read and analyze the content of your documents to find specific information, clauses, or terms.

You can search within multiple documents simultaneously, regardless of whether they're in PDF, Word, or live editing mode. The tool can help you extract specific information like dates, dollar amounts, clauses, and other important contract details.

Example queries: • "What are the payment terms in the Acme Corp contract?" • "Find all termination clauses in my active vendor agreements" • "Extract the renewal dates from these three contracts"

(Suggest screenshot of a search within query showing extracted information from a document)

  1. Generate Reports

Create reports in your Concord account directly from Claude or ChatGPT.

When you generate a report, you'll receive a link that takes you directly to that report in your Concord account. The report itself lives in Concord and follows your existing report structure and permissions.

Example queries: • "Generate a report of all contracts expiring in the next 90 days" • "Create a report showing all agreements with ABC Company"

(Suggest screenshot of a generated report confirmation with the link to view it in Concord)

Important Limitations to Know

As this is the first version of the MCP server, there are some current limitations:

Document Metadata: The MCP server currently only accesses document content and titles. It does not have access to information in the document summary panel (such as custom properties, parties, tags, or other metadata). This functionality will be added in future updates.

Pagination: Due to current MCP technology limitations, AI assistants typically pull one page of search results at a time. If you're expecting a very long list of results, not all items may appear in the initial response. This limitation will improve as the technology evolves.

Report Viewing: When you generate a report, you cannot view it directly in Claude or ChatGPT. You'll receive a link to view the report in your Concord account.

Why Does This Matter?

The Concord MCP server transforms how you interact with your contract repository by:

• Saving Time: Get instant answers about your contracts without manually searching through documents • Increasing Accessibility: Access your contract information from wherever you're already working • Improving Analysis: Leverage AI to analyze contract terms, extract key information, and compare multiple documents • Streamlining Workflows: Generate reports and find documents without switching between applications

As we continue to develop this tool, you'll gain even more capabilities to manage your entire Concord account through your AI assistant.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are there usage limits for the MCP server? A: Usage limits vary based on your plan level and what was discussed with your CSM during setup. Contact your CSM if you have questions about your specific limits.

Q: What if something isn't working correctly? A: This is an actively developed tool and your feedback is extremely valuable. If you encounter any issues, have suggestions for improvements, or have ideas for new features, please contact support at support@concord.app. We're prioritizing updates and improvements to the MCP server throughout the coming months.
