How Do I Finalize Signing on a Document?
What Is Finalize Signing?
Finalize Signing lets you skip any remaining signatures on a document and immediately mark it as fully signed. This is useful when:
- Some or all signatures were collected outside of Concord (for example, wet signatures or another signing platform)
- You no longer need the remaining signers to sign and want to close out the document
When you finalize, Concord bypasses all unsigned signers, moves the document to the Signed stage, and permanently locks it — as if everyone had signed.
How to Finalize Signing
- Open the document in Concord
- Go to the Signature menu in the top toolbar
- Select Finalize Signing
- Confirm your choice
The document will move to the Signed stage.
Who Can Finalize Signing?
You must be an internal user with editing rights on the document. External guests cannot finalize signing.
The document must be in the Review or Signing stage. Documents that are already fully signed cannot be finalized again.
What Happens When You Finalize
- The document moves to the Signed stage and editing is permanently locked
- All configured signers who have not yet signed are removed from the document
- Required fields can be left blank — they are not enforced during finalization
- However, any pending approvals must be completed before you can finalize
- The Signers panel will display: "Document signed outside of Concord or has no signatures"
Important Notes
- This action is permanent and cannot be undone. Once finalized, you cannot revert the document to an earlier stage.
- Internal and external participants will no longer be able to add new signatures after finalization.
- The Signature Certificate for a finalized document will not include the names of signers who signed outside Concord.
