How Do I Delegate or Reassign a Signature?
If you need someone else to sign in your place, or if you need to change who is assigned as a signer on a document, Concord offers two options: Delegate Signature and Reassign Signer.
Option 1: Delegate Your Own Signature
Any signer — internal user or external guest — can delegate their own signature to someone else.
- Open the document
- Go to the Signature menu in the top toolbar
- Select Delegate Signature
- In the Select delegatee field, choose a user or type the new signer's email address (type-ahead search is available for internal users)
- Click Delegate
Your signature responsibility and all assigned signature fields transfer immediately to the new signer.
If the new signer is an external guest who hasn't been invited yet, you'll see two options:
- Invite now — sends an invitation email immediately
- Save for later — adds them as a signer but doesn't send the invitation yet
Option 2: Reassign Someone Else's Signature
If you have editing rights on the document, you can reassign any signer who has not yet signed.
- Open the Signers panel (from the right-hand sidebar or the Signature menu)
- Find the signer you want to replace
- Reassign them to a different person
This is useful when the original signer is unavailable and you need to keep the signing process moving.
Important Notes
- You can only delegate your own signature. To change someone else's signer assignment, use the Reassign option (requires editing rights).
- If the newly assigned signer has already joined the document, they can sign immediately.
- Delegation transfers all assigned fields — the new signer will see the same fields the original signer was responsible for.
